As soon as the name of Banaras Hindu University comes, the stunning idol of Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji, the worshiper of Hindutva, comes in front of eyes.


Malaviya Ji was born on 25 December 1861. His father, Pandit Brajnath,
used to follow his family by preaching or discourses and pooja. After completing his primary education, Malaviya ji studied Sanskrit and English.
Like other Malaviya ji also suffer a lot due to poverty, his mother pledged his bracelet to teach him a higher education.

Malaviya ji Wanted to do MA in Sanskrit, but he started teaching due to his economic mismanagement.

Madan Mohan Malviya Newspapers:


The king of the princely state of Kalankarkar was greatly influenced by him. He used to take out a newspaper called ‘Hindusthan’.
He called Malaviya Ji and made it its editor.
Malaviya Ji agreed on the condition that Raja Saheb would never drunk & talk to him.
In Malviya ji’s editing, the newspaper became famous all over India.

But one day the Raja Saheb broke his bet. Therefore, Malaviya Ji resigned from the editor’s Post.
Raja Saheb apologized to him, But Malaviya Ji stood firm.
At the time of departure, Rajashab urged that he should study law and he will bear the expenses.
Malaviya Ji agreed upon this but left his Job.

After leaving Hindusthan daily Newspaper, he shows interested in journalism. He continued to write independently in many journals and magazines. He also edited several newspapers in Hindi and English like Indian Union, India, Abhyudaya, Sanatan Dharma, Leader, Hindustan Times, etc.

He also founded several newspapers. After completing law studies,
he started advocating. With this he earned immense wealth.
He did not take false cases and fought the cases of the poor for free.
Within a short time, his fame spread everywhere.
He was also very active in the Congress.

Whenever there was a crisis or obstacle come on Hinduism,
Malaviya Ji immediately reached there.


Teaching Mantra ,Gau Seva Initiated By Malaviya JI:

In Haridwar, when the British conspired to release water from the dam instead of the mainstream at Har Ki Pauri, Malaviya Ji made a huge movement and bowed to the British.
Due to his love for every Hindu, he initiated & taught thousands of Harijan brothers, ॐ Namah Shivaya and Gayatri Mantra. Service for Hinduism and cow protection are 2 primary identities for Malvia Ji.

A Journey From Hindu Mahasabha to RSS:

He along with Lala Lajpat Rai and Swami Shraddhanand founded the ‘All India Hindu Mahasabha’.
The organization was formed to protect the rights of the Hindu community, after the formation of the All India Muslim League in 1906.

In the late 1920s, the Mahasabha came under the influence of leaders like Balakrishna Shivram Moonje and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
Savarkar was a former revolutionary who had been banned from anti-British political activities
and opposed the secularism of the Congress.
Under Savarkar, the Mahasabha became a more intense critic of the Congress.
In 1925, its former member Keshav Baliram Hedgewar left to form the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS),
a Hindu volunteer organization
that abstained from active politics.
Although ideologically similar to the Mahasabha, the RSS grew faster across the nation.


Contribution of Madan Mohan Malviya in the field of education: Founded Asia’s biggest universities Banaras Hindu University(BHU):

Malaviya ji had long wished to build a Hindu University.
As soon as he got the land from the King of Kashi, he roamed all over the country
and started collecting money.
Finally he founded one of Asia’s biggest residential universities—the Banaras Hindu University.

a legacy is given to the nation by Pandit Malaviya as the President of the Indian National Congress in its session of 1918 at Delhi,


He started the tradition of Aarti at Har ki Pauri Haridwar to the sacred Ganga river which is performed till date.
The Malviya Dwipa, a small island across the ghat, is named after him and carries his bust.

Madan Mohan Malviya JI death:

Malvia Ji finally rested on 12 November 1946 in Varanasi at the age of 84, We still remember his effort to unite Hinduism and his contribution
to the society.
